Retaliation & Whistleblowing
It is impermissible in New Jersey for an employer to retaliate against an employee who discloses, objects to, or refuses to participate in certain behaviors that the employee reasonably believes are either illegal or in violation of public policy. New York City also protects whistleblowers, albeit on a much more limited basis. Navigating a “whistleblower” claim can be, to put it mildly, extremely challenging. Therefore, if you believe you are dealing with such a situation, you should reach out to experienced employment counsel as soon as possible.
